Barbara J. Giovinco
July 3, 1934 - December 24, 2024
Barbara J. Giovinco passed away peacefully with her family by her side on December 24, 2024. Born in Glasgow, Scotland on July 3, 1934 she was the beloved daughter to the late William and Catherine Drummond (Baird).
After the war, Barbara and her family journeyed to the United States when she was 13 years old. She loved her new life in Kennett Square, but cherished her wonderful memories of growing up in Glasgow. Upon graduating Kennett High School in 1952, Barbara went on to marry the love of her life, the late Philip Giovinco. Together they shared 43 years of marriage until his passing in 1995.
Barbara was a devoted wife, cherished mother to the late Gerald Giovinco (Mary), Philip Giovinco, Jr. (Diane), Catherine Lukens (Alan), Joseph Giovinco (Joyce), Bernadette Grib (Robert) and James Giovinco, dear grandmother to Ryan (Lynette), Jason (Kristen), Justin (Tiare), Eric (Lorie), Heather (Ryan), Gregory, Kimberly (Kevin), Matthew (Danielle), Andrew (Emily), Jeffrey, Lauren (Patrick), Gina (Luke), Danielle, great grandmother and great great grandmother to many, sister to the late James Drummond (Linda Thompson), aunt to many, and friend to all. She will be deeply missed by all who loved her. We find comfort knowing she is reunited with her husband and son.
Barbara was a deeply generous and kind soul. She loved all people, especially children. While her grandchildren were young, Barbara volunteered at St. Francis School to serve lunches to the children. She was a mother to many!
Barbara was happiest when she was surrounded by the people she loved. She hosted many events at her home especially Christmas and Fourth of July, had picnics at Mermaid Lake and Markley Farms, and loved attending the Giovinco family reunions. Even though she was a longtime resident of Norristown, she still made an effort to keep in touch with her Kennett Square friends and Delaware family.
In her free time, Barbara enjoyed shopping trips alongside her daughters, vacations in Avalon and dancing. Above all, her greatest joy in life was her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. She has made an everlasting impression on the hearts of all she has touched.
Relatives and friends are invited to Barbaras Life Celebration on Monday January 6, 2025 to St. Francis of Assisi Church of Norristown, 601 Buttonwood St. from 9:45 am to 11:50 am with her Funeral Mass to follow at 12 noon. Interment to follow at St. Patrick Cemetery.
